The Memo Guy has been busy crisscrossing state and country lines to bring you the best memorabilia in the business and his stories from the road.
It's great to finally be home. Three weeks away, but no one here is complaining. Started in Houston with that little ole band from Texas, ZZ Top, world premiering their
Live From Texas DVD at the Hard Rock Cafe Houston. The place was packed. From there it was off to London for our annual tribute to rock, Hard Rock Calling®. This year we had Clapton and the Police headlining the two days in Hyde Park, supported by John Mayer (yes Jen was with him), Sheryl Crow, KT Tunstall, and many others. We had a huge VIP tent with tons of cool memorabilia on display. MTV thought it would be a good idea to have me do a walk through and tell some stories. We had our backstage setup in the artist compound and a few people stopped by. Eric came by to donate a limited edition "Crossroads" strat to the Hard Rock. Andy Summers from the Police came by to sign one of our Ambassadors of Rock® guitars. You know, just the kind of things that happen at a big rock show…
The day before our show, there was the 90th birthday celebration for Nelson Mandela. That was amazing. The Hard Rock donated $100,000 to the 46664 fund. It's important because, as the charity says, "It's in our hands." Every performer came by the Hard Rock backstage tent and donated some items from their performances. Everyone from Queen, Amy Winehouse, Will and Jada Smith, Peter Gabriel, The Sugababes, Simple Minds, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Annie Lennox, Andrea Corr, Johnny Clegg, Geri Halliwell, Quincy Jones, Papa Wemba, and Josh Grobin all made their way to us.
Then it was off to Paris to spend 2 days with Iron Maiden!!! EDDIE RULES.
